Weekend…. Weekend….. weekend… Well it’s Tuesday and the weekend is well gone already, and so is Monday. For me Monday is a pretty hard day: waking up early, starting on daily chores, putting a serious mood on, bills to handle…. And the list goes on. Monday is the day when I get together my “To do” “To call” “To send” “To buy” “Not to forget” lists for that specific week; and once in two weeks, Monday is the day for my “Menu” and “Grocery Shopping” list – you know trying to keep everything nice and organize, even though the last one is personally challenging for me. I am a mom, a woman, a wife, and I am all the way into natural living, healing, and looking. I enjoy shopping at my favorite natural store, and I drive full of happiness 20 minutes in any weather condition, just to buy “something” at that store. In fact, my husband thinks that we could probably open our own natural store with all the items we already have in the house, not mentioning the zillion of items and health related books I have in my amazon cart – which I know he knows that I have them, but pretends that he doesn’t 🙂 Got away from what I was writing.. Back to the point.

Tuesday

Tuesday is my escape day: after all the things accomplished the day before, I am granted a good night sleep, and wake up rested and happy. The smell of coffee, birds chirping, kids running around, breakfast – all of these puts me into a lets take care of myself mood. Kids are fed, doing school, the youngest one is napping – so yes, a great time to take care of myself. Today, I made this amazing face mask for myself, as I needed some healing done to my skin. I don’t use store shampoos or conditioners, and it happened that I had no choice but use one the past weekend and my skin break out around the hairline. It’s painful, it’s visible, and it needs to be taken care of.

Looked through my herbs, supplements, oils, everything and made a simple mask that hydrated, healed, and beautified my face. It’s made out of simple yet powerful ingredients that have amazing properties for our skin.

Ingredients:

Activated Charcoal – this is one of the famous ingredients today in about anything and that is reasonable do to its amazing antibacterial and antifungal properties, clears the pores, absorbs all the bad stuff from our faces and detoxifies our skin. After using, my skin feels smooth and my pores definitely look better (it also gives them a darker color which makes it easy to take them out with a regular towel). Don’t forget that it also balances the oily skin.

Seaweed– I have it in form of supplement, and I just emptied out some of the capsules to use in this face mask. Now the benefits are amazing: gives your skin superior hydration, anti-aging and anti-inflammatory benefits, its packed with amino acids, vitamins and minerals, and its anti-bacterial properties make it an ideal ingredient for fighting everything from acne to signs of aging.

Plantain (plantago mayor)- it’s a herb that can be seen anywhere and everywhere. I never paid attention to it until I purchased it from a natural store. I do remember that as a kid, my mom used it to help me with bleeding booboos on my knees. During my research, I found our that Plantain leaves have antibacterial and astringent properties that can be used as a poultice to apply to stings and wounds to reduce pain and prevent infection. The leaves are also rich in iron and vitamins A, C, K and have high nutritional value and are loaded with calcium and iron.It can be applied directly to damaged skin to help with bleeding, speed up healing, stop itching and ease pain. It is successfully used to treat eczema, psoriasis and first degree burns. Fresh plantain leaves are most effective in treating and helping injuries, disinfecting, killing pathogenic organisms, reduce inflammation and healing. Take a note here: besides its awesome healing benefits, plantain prevents scarring by inducing faster healing and regeneration of the skin cells. Yahoooooo!!!

Sunflower Oil – This oil is known for its wonderful properties: it prevents premature aging, contains compounds that protects collagen and elastin
promoting a youthful appearance, fights acne (prevents bacteria to come in contact with skin), is loaded with vitamin E and fatty acids (nourishes the skin and offers protection).

The recipe:

This is an easy one: I emptied four seaweed capsules, 1/2 tbsp activated charcoal, 1 tbsp dried plantain, 1/2 tbsp sunflower oil. Mix it very well. You can apply it to your face right away, but I like to let it sit covered for about 10 minutes to let all the ingredients soak together.
Clean your face before applying. Apply the mask to your face and wash it with a towel and warm water after 10-15 minutes.

Charcoal will make the pores be more visible and you can use a clean towel to wipe them away.

Just by applying this mask, I already got that pampering feeling I really wanted to enjoy after a hard Monday and it worked like a charm!
